We thought you’d like to see some quick snaps from the Sugar Arts Show in Tulsa. As always, it was a mind-boggling event. 82,000 people visit the show every year. They come from all over the world!
There are 20 to 30 competitions in various categories: candy confections, baking for taste, decorated cookies, tiered cakes, etc. And the contestants range from pros to beginners.
Here we are—DAY ONE–with Kerry Vincent, show director and Food Network star. Kerry is so nice to invite us every year. This is our fourth year! And we’ve already been invited back for a fifth! Thanks, Kerry!
Here’s Karen’s first cake of the day. It’s her version of a fancy tiered cake–all made out of candy, of course!!!
Here’s Master Sugar Artist Shayne Greenman making an amazing horse out of fondant. It took him 2 days to complete this masterpiece. In the end, the Australian maestro had created a great American Western sculpture, right out of Remington!
This TOOLBOX CAKE was one of Alan’s favorite projects, being the McGyver of Candy, and a regular home improvement guy. This project was a big hit in the specialty cake division. I think we saw more men eye-ing this one cake than any other.
So much to see. So little time! But…
More to come.
